What is BVLOS?
Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) refers to the operation of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) or drone beyond the distance at which the pilot can maintain direct visual contact with the aircraft. Unlike Visual Line of Sight (VLOS) operations, BVLOS flights rely on advanced communication, navigation, and sensing technologies to monitor and control the drone safely when it is no longer visible to the operator.
BVLOS operations significantly expand the range and capabilities of drones, making them suitable for applications such as infrastructure inspection, pipeline monitoring, agriculture, surveying and mapping, disaster response, and package delivery. By enabling drones to cover larger areas more efficiently, BVLOS technology improves operational productivity while reducing the time and cost associated with traditional aerial data collection methods.
