EVI

Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) is one of the key vegetation indices employed by remote sensing for estimating plant condition, vegetation coverage, and vegetation changes. The EVI utilizes reflectance in the near-infrared, red, and blue spectral ranges for mitigating atmospheric disturbances, soil background, and canopy artifacts. In contrast to NDVI, the EVI often performs better in densely covered or highly productive vegetation regions since the index does not suffer from saturation. Applications of the EVI include GIS, remote satellite images processing, precision farming, forestry, environmental science, land use mapping, and ecosystem evaluation. The EVI can assist in assessing crop development, detecting vegetation stress, evaluating the state of forests, analyzing the seasonal dynamics of vegetation, and conducting environmental studies. Satellite data obtained using satellites such as MODIS, Landsat, and Sentinel-2 can be used for EVI computation.

Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) is a remote sensing multispectral index that is used for obtaining extensive information on the condition, biomass, and growth of vegetation. It is especially applicable in the case of areas having a high amount of vegetation since some vegetation indexes like NDVI might get saturated at those places. The Enhanced Vegetation Index utilizes near-infrared (NIR), red, and blue spectral bands for increasing the vegetation signal while correcting any atmospheric disturbance and soil background influence. Data obtained through the EVI helps to detect variations in the development of crops, vegetation conditions, forestation, and ecosystems at various times of the year. The EVI is widely used in the fields of precision agriculture, forestry, environmental monitoring, land cover assessment, climatology studies, and vegetation mapping using GIS. With the help of EVI data acquired from satellite or aerial photography, one can conduct comparison between the vegetation conditions in different places and observe their changes over time.
