Multipart Feature

A multipart feature is a vector GIS feature that contains two or more distinct geometric parts but is stored and treated as a single feature. Each part can be spatially separated while sharing the same set of attributes. For example, a country made up of several islands can be represented as one multipart polygon rather than separate features for each island. Multipart geometry can be used with points, lines, and polygons, making it useful for representing geographic entities with disconnected components. In GIS and spatial data management, multipart features help maintain consistent attributes and simplify database organization.
